Government Polytechnic Reasi organised Annual Sports Day
Government Polytechnic Reasi organised Annual Sports Day in the college campus in which various sports tournaments such as Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Table-tennis and Volleyball was organised. The tournaments commenced in the institute on 13th October on knockout basis prior to the inter department tournament. In the final matches of inter-department tournaments, Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the institution was chief guest who was warmly welcomed by the organizing committee. While speaking on the occasion he encouraged all participants to take part in the sports activities to keep themselves fit and healthy and to play the games with the sportsmanship. Principal Er. Arun Bangotra lauded the students’ enthusiasm and underlined the role of sports in the nurturing teamwork perseverance and the leadership's essential virtues for the future.
The event commenced with the trials in all categories to identify the most skilled players following the trials, several matches were organised to determine the finalists. In Badminton tournament 56 students participated. In the Boys’ Badminton final, Danish Bhardwaj showcased exceptional agility and skill, securing victory with a straight-set win of 2–0 over Harsh Dev Singh, who displayed commendable effort as the runner-up.
In the Girls’ Badminton Final, a thrilling contest unfolded between Vishali Devi and Darshana Devi. After a close and competitive match, Vishali Devi emerged as the winner with a hard-fought 2–1 victory.
In the Carrom (Boys) category, out of 40 participants, Rashpal Singh and Chandan emerged as winners after an intense final round, defeating Manik Sangral and Avinash Lal, who secured the runner-up position. In the Carrom (Girls) category, with 8 participants, the duo Manvi and Mehak claimed victory, while Nitasha and Reetika finished as runners-up.
In Chess (Boys), from a total of 15 participants, Ayush Verma demonstrated exceptional strategic play to become the winner, with Mankaran as the runner-up. In the Chess (Girls) category, Arti clinched the top position, followed by Bharti as the runner-up.
In Table Tennis, with 8 participants, Mukesh Kumar displayed excellent skill and precision to win the final match against Amit Sangral, who stood as the runner-up.
In the Volley ball tournament, in first semi final, Electrical department team beat Computer Department by 2-1 in the harley contested match 25-12, 23-25, 15-12. In the second Semi-final, Mechanical department gave a good fight to the Computer department and won 2-1 with the 25-18, 17 - 25 and 15-10. Happy Singh of 1st semester Electrical department, Mandeep, 3rd semester Mechanical, Udhay Singh, 5th semester Computer displayed a good show of skills in spiking.
In an exciting final match, the Electrical Department team triumphed over the Mechanical Department, securing the championship title in a very close contest and won 2-0 with the 25-21 and, 25 – 18. Principal Er.Arun Bangotra congratulated the winning team and Er. Himanshu Bakshi (Incharge Electrical department) for the winning trophy. He also congratulated Sh. Parshotam Lal incharge Mechanical department for winning the runner up trophy. Earlier, the oath of sportsmanship led by the institution sports secretary Ajay Dogra reaffirmed every student's pledge to uphold fairness and integrity on the field. Over the past few days students displayed remarkable stamina, skills and determination in various games and Rangoli events, reflecting the institution's commitment to building fitness, leadership and teamwork. Sports secretary Sh. Ajay Dogra (senior workshop instructor) presented the vote of thanks for the chief guest Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal and the audience present. Other present on the occasion were staff of the college including, Mr Sunil Kumar, Ms Ayushi Magotra, Ms Akansha Sharma, Ms Veena Thapa, Ms Nisha Kumari, Ms Vandana Sharma, Ms Esha, Ms Vaishali, Ms Sonika, Er Anil Kumar, Er Pushotam Singh, Mr Dharminder, staff and large gathering of students of the college. |
